UXDM Lab Projects: Applying AI for Next-Generation Human-Centered Solutions

Grounded in technology, design, and business disciplines, our lab focusing on designing and developing innovative technologies both at personal and organizational level. We are currently working on applying AI to develop smart systems that can automatically detect users' visual pattern and behaviours. Key projects include:

1. “Chronic Pain and Eye Movements: A NeuroIS Approach to Designing Smart Clinical Decision Support Systems”

This project applies NeuroIS principles to design a clinical decision support system that detects chronic pain levels from patients’ eye movements. By applying regression, we analyze gaze patterns to provide clinicians with insights into pain indicators, contributing to more precise and individualized patient care.

2. “Impact of Anxiety on Information Processing Among Young Adults: An Exploratory Eye-Tracking Study”

This research explores the relationship between anxiety and information processing, particularly among young adults. Through eye-tracking data, the study identifies specific gaze patterns associated with anxious states. These insights have potential applications in designing supportive interventions for mental health, aimed at reducing the cognitive strain that anxiety imposes on information processing.

3.“Detecting Task Demand via an Eye-Tracking Machine Learning System”

This project develops a machine learning model to detect task demand and cognitive load through eye-tracking data. By recognizing when users face increased task demands, this system can inform adaptive interface designs that respond to real-time user needs, ultimately improving productivity and user satisfaction.
